  • RESIZING PHOTOS
  • EDITING PHOTOS
  • ADDING TEXT
  • PRINTING

    1. STEP 1
    2. Start PSP.

    3. Open a scrapbooking layout.
    4. STEP 2 - ADDING PHOTOS

Start by browsing your file folders for photos you would like to add.
I use Browser palette to preview and add photos.

      To display the Browser palette
press the CTRL key and the letter B at the same time on your keyboard.

This opens a Browser palette with thumbnails of your photos.
You may need to browse through your file folders a bit to find your photos.

Minimize the palette so it doesn't cover the entire workspace, see below.

Click and drag photos from the browse window onto layout.

STEP 3 - MOVING PHOTOS DOWNWARD

Place photos behind the layout, one at a time, like this:

Click the Mover Tool on the "Tool palette".

Place the cursor over the photo, hold down the left mouse button and drag it to the opening.

    5. Place the photo behind the layout.
Highlight "LAYERS", then "ARRANGE" and select "SEND TO BOTTOM" (or MOVE DOWN).

This is my result so far.

      STEP 4 - RESIZING PHOTOS 1

When photos are too wide, you can just trim the excess parts by using a selection tool.
Just press letter S and selection tool will open.
(RIGHT-CLICK anywhere on the layout to close the selection tool.)

Place the cursor onto the part of the photo you want to cut off and press the left button. Keeping the left button pressed, move the cursor diagonally, release the button. The selected area will be marked by a dotted line.

Press delete to trim the excess parts of your picture.

      STEP 4 - RESIZING PHOTOS 2

Select the Pick/Deform Tool from the Toolbar. Press letter K.

You will see a frame with eight markers around the photo.

Left-click on one of the markers in one of the corners and drag it inward to change the size.

    6. STEP 5 - EDITING PHOTOS

Images lose their sharpness when they are resized, so we'll apply an Unsharp Mask for a high quality appearance. Click on your photo with the Mover Tool on the "Tool palette".

    7. Apply an Unsharp Mask to increase the contrast and add intensity.

Highlight "ADJUST" select "SHARPNESS" and "UNSHARP MASK".
(Or in PSP 8 - Highlight "EFFECTS" select "SHARPEN" and "UNSHARP MASK".)

The Unsharp Mask dialog box appears. Fill the boxes with the following values:
Radius: .9, same as blur factor, above
      Strength: 70
      Clipping: 0

      Click OK.
    8. Adding Text
Start by adding a new layer.
Click Layers and then select New raster layer.

A new window will open, click ok button.

      Click the Text icon .

Click on the TEXT TOOL OPTIONS.

      Select text settings:

      Make sure you select "VECTOR".

Select text color in foreground color box of Materials Palette.

If Materials Palette is not open, press F6 on the keyboard.

Enter your text and click APPLY.

You will see a frame with eight markers around text.

Left-click on one of the corner markers and drag it outward to change the size.

      Need to move your sentiment?

Click the Mover Tool on the "Tool palette".
Place the cursor over text, hold down the left mouse button and drag it to where you want it to be.

      Applying shadow
Click "Effects" then 3 D Effects and select Drop Shadow.

    9. Save your layout - FILE - SAVE AS type in a name you want and click the "SAVE" button.

    10. PRINT - Click file and Print Layout..

Drag the thumbnail to the "blank" page - workspace and click print. You may be prompted if you want to scale down your image becaus it doesn't fit the printable area. Choose Yes.
